Saint Francis of Assisi School, Mamit
On June 29, 2026 (Monday), the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed at the St. Francis of Assisi School Hall with Dr. Lalrinfela H, DMS students, and teachers.
The programme was chaired by Sr. Sylvia, the Headmistress of the School. Dr. Lalrinfela H, DMS Mamit, delivered a speech. Dr. Fela spoke about the high number of deaths among Mizo men due to drugs. He emphasized the need for men to step up and noting that even in offices, women now make up the majority. He also spoke about the short lifespans of Mizo men addicted to drugs and the high number of those who lose their lives in their own bathrooms due to overdoses.
He stated that Mizoram is a Christian state, and the reason for the high divorce rate is the prevalence of drugs. He also mentioned that because fewer people are getting married infront of the Altar, couples are getting divorced. He also encouraged the students to enter into marriage in a holy manner. He urged men not to try drugs even once.
He also encouraged women to change their preferences. He further advised them to marry God-fearing men who do not use drugs.
